About this tool
Design your star map
Pick any date, time and place on Earth and we plot the exact night sky that stood over it. Positions are computed from real star catalogue and ephemeris data for the timestamp and coordinates you enter, not selected from a set of stock illustrations. The preview above updates live as you change anything.
Then make it yours in four steps: the sky, your words, the style and the size. Choose one of five layouts and 19 colour styles, a circle or a heart, an optional compass or atlas dial, your typefaces and a single, double or no border, and order it as an instant digital download, a print, a framed poster or an 8-inch wall clock.
The same sky can also be worn: our personalized star map necklace engraves it on a 20 mm coin, from $79, gift boxed with your own message.
- What date should I use?
- Whichever moment the chart is meant to mark: a wedding night, a birth, a first date, or a day someone is remembered. The sky is computed for that exact timestamp, read in the place’s own time zone.
- How accurate is it?
- Every visible star is placed from its Hipparcos catalogue position for your date and location, planets from their true positions, and the Moon from its true angle to the Sun. The engine is checked against astropy, the software professional astronomers use. How we measure it.
- Which layouts can I design here?
- Five: the classic star map; the Moon Poster, the Moon alone as it was that night; Two Skies, two nights side by side; the Star Map with Moon Phase, your sky beside its Moon; and the Birth Poster, with a baby’s name and stats under their sky. All five come in the same 19 colour styles and at the same prices.
- How much does it cost?
- The preview is free. A digital download is $19.99, prints start at $39.99 and framed posters at $79.99, in 11×14, 12×16, 18×24 or 24×36 inches; the 8-inch wall clock is $74.99. The same sky can be engraved on a 20 mm coin necklace, from $79.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Design and preview as long as you like; an email is only needed at checkout to send your order.
- How fast is delivery?
- Digital files arrive by email within minutes. Prints are made to order and ship free, with tracking.
